70 Years of Grantmaking and Joan K. Davidson’s Birthday

On Monday, June 26th, 2017, 600 guests, including environmentalists, nonprofit leaders, preservation advocates, artists, writers and elected officials gathered at the Arthur Ross Garden of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum to raise a glass to 70 years of Kaplan grantmaking and to celebrate the 90th birthday of Joan K. Davidson, our President Emeritus.

Over the past 70 years, the Fund has focused its support in the areas of historic preservation, the built and natural environment, human rights, and arts and culture. To date, the Fund has contributed 17,000 grants totaling over $246,000,000 to important causes around the world, many in our hometown of New York City.
